Web Blog Assignment: Emerging Trends Interactive Instruction

Directions:

(1) Create an account on Blogger. (2) Design a blog about an emerging trend, (3) Include/follow all of the bulleted information under the heading Information about the New Technology, (4) Provide links to appropriate sites that invite exploration and investigation of other sources and annotate the links you provide, and (5) Join and contribute to three other blogs by posting on three different occasions by Week 4.

Information about the New Technology: Please read the rubric for specific scoring details

• History: Reveal information about its inception/background information and characteristics: 
• Provide features that make it a Web 2.0 technology - (social networking, collaboration, interactivity, read-to write, etc.)
• Purpose: This component is the greatest part of the narrative:
• Make known its purposefulness and usefulness for education and business along with showing ways to integrate the application into schooling for learning, teaching, or research, business events, family use and interactivity, and community use
• Make known how application can be used to (1) solve problems (2) collaboration, and (3) communicate information and ideas to a global audience.
• Present ideas or give suggestions for the practitioner.
• Software/Hardware: Identify software and hardware (1) requirements, (2) capabilities and limitations, and (3) issues that can occur in everyday use. (All these items are necessary to earn a score of Transformative (5) for scoring elements 3.1 and 3.4. Please check the rubric for scoring.)
• Web blog is engaging, creative, inviting, and innovative thinking is evident
• Uses at least five quality media
• Identify and cite references and information accurately
• Evidence of using technology effectively, fluently, and appropriately (Understands how to manage a blog, use the functions appropriately, responses appropriately, and able to invite others to share and participate).
• Add a RSS feed
• Cultural Understanding: Add an item: Translation feature.

Participating and Contributing to Peers Blogs

Directions: The questions listed below provide a springboard for investigating together (1) new technologies, (2) instructional uses of the technologies, and (3) ways these technologies can be used to solve real-world problems.

1. Explain methods for using this technology for instructional purposes.

2. Explain ways this technology be used to solve real-world problems.

3. Explain the computing capabilities needed to use the technology (hardware and software).
